Military Pants

You’re not spending your morning right if it doesn’t involve frolicking around for 30 minutes to produce the right Instagram picture.

Boohoo pants, J.Crew flats, Primark top

If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you’ve noticed the amount of times I’ve pictured these Boohoo pants. I was lucky enough to team up with the brand and choose a bunch of items from their site, and one of the pieces I couldn’t resist picking was these pants. Gals like Kendall and Gigi are constantly featured wearing pants like these, and since everything is SO cheap, you can buy these plus shoes and a top for a full look.

I’m heading to Houston tomorrow, and Austin on Friday, for a little work related getaway. Texas is actually one of my favorite states, even though I assume many people in Texas voted for Trump and he’s not my biggest fan….but tacos, tacos are my biggest fan. I’ll be eating a whole lot of them after my shoot on Friday.

I attached a picture above of a jacket I saw at Zara, and am debating buying (well, having my sister buy me for a birthday present). What do you think? I’m a huge fan of military style, though I never know if I’ll end up wearing a military style piece…would you buy the jacket above/the pants I’m wearing? Let me know in the comments below!

Don’t forget to subscribe to my newsletter too. The next one comes out next week, and we’ve got a couple surprises in there for you!

The Day of Sales

Cyber Monday sales you don’t want to miss out on.

Boohoo shoes + jacket, Aeropostale leggings + top

I rarely do anything besides cook on Thanksgiving. That’s actually what happens on most holidays, primarily because my sister lives in Turkey, my uncles live in Texas, and my grandparents are slightly (very) old. The rest of my family lives in Europe, and I don’t keep in touch with them.

Growing up, I always wanted to have a huge family. I envied my friends who have tons of relatives they get to cook for! That’s why when my boyfriend invited me to spend Turkey Day with his family yesterday, I couldn’t resist saying yes. I meannnn I’m not one to turn down food, or a true Thanksgiving experience, so I got dressed up and spent the day eating with his family!

I’m cooking for my family today, and we are celebrating this evening. I’m not partaking in Black Friday shopping (I never do) but I’ll be buying a few items on Monday. One of my favorite brands, Boohoohas some of the BEST clothing right now. They kindly sent me a huge shipment earlier this week, so clothing wise, I’m set up until next summer. Between tons of sparkly dresses, a few nice pairs of heels, and this beautiful army green jacket; I could make plenty of enough outfits out of a few pieces.

Where are some other places to check out on Monday?

Airlines: Southwest + JetBlue are notorious for fabulous Cyber Monday deals. If you have a favorite airline, signup for email alerts (NOW) so when they release their sales, you’ll be one of the first to know.

Urban Outfitters: I always go to urbanoutfitters.com on Cyber Monday because they never disappoint. Head to their sale section on the site, and take additional discounts off of your favorite items. Sign up for their rewards program too, and get a $5 off discount!

Levi’s: It’s never a bad idea to stock up on quality denim during this time of year. Levi’s is having a 40% off discount on Monday, and you may be able to find additional discount coupons online.

UGG Australia: If you’re ready to start Christmas shopping, buy your girl or guy a nice pair of Ugg boots this season. With free shipping (no limit) on Monday, and 30% off on the site, you might as well treat yourself too!

Target: FREE SHIPPING. That’s all I can say.

American Eagle: 50% off of sweaters.

Aerie: 50% off sitewide.

What are you looking forward to buying on Monday? It’s #treatyoself season, my friends.

Never Say Never

Never say no to an opportunity that might lead into something much bigger…

Free People dress, Madewell necklace + shoes, Urban Outfitters hat, Blow in Blow Out hair

I never say no to an opportunity to travel. Whether that means heading to London, or heading to New Jersey, or even a different town in MA or CT, you can count me in if you ask me to go with you.

One of my best friends, Hannah, always invites me to visit her in Summit, New Jersey, where she lives. I’ve been once before, and I fell in love with the quaint town just a train ride away from Manhattan. There is something so incredible about being in the heart of Manhattan, and escaping to the heart of the country in a mere 30 minutes. I grew up hours away from Manhattan in my small Connecticut town, so heading to New Jersey makes me remember how much I wish I grew up here. My life would’ve been much easier (if I grew up closer to NYC) but growing up in the middle of nowhere made me who I am.

Whenever you get frustrated, or feel like you aren’t doing well enough, remember that your life is heading in the direction it’s meant to go in. You may not have all the answers right now, but that doesn’t mean you won’t have them in a few days, a few hours, or a few years. Don’t rush progress; accept who you are and where you are, and never give up pushing for the next phase of your life.

Follow your dreams all the way to the end, and even when you’ve reached success, never become content with success. Never feel comfortable; always push yourself to be uncomfortable until the world becomes the place you want it to become.

Girl Power

Never let someone or something define you by the size of your pants.

Beauty comes in all forms. Something that continues to frustrate me is when people make comments about my body, or even theirs. For example, I have never been more frustrated than when I’m at the gym with a friend and they say to me “wow, you’re more in shape than I thought you were!” WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? But actually, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN!?!?!??!?!?!?! Because I’m not naturally a size 2, and I have meat on my thighs, you think there’s no way I could actually be in great shape?

Yet I have friends who are naturally a size 0/2, never work out, eat McDonald’s for every other meal, and somehow have abs. You’d never expect them to be in bad shape though, would you?

Moral of the story; the size of your pants truly doesn’t define you as a person. You may exercise hardcore 6 days of the week (like me), eat salad for lunch and a cupcake for dessert everyday, and probably never see abs form. I’ll most likely be a size 6 for the rest of my life. Do I care anymore? No. Just don’t put me down for it.

Love yourself!!

Beauty Can Change Things…

It’s what matters on the inside that’s important.

AG Jeans, J.Crew vest, Banana Republic sweater

I posted this picture I saw last week on Instagram a few days ago, and someone replied and said that beauty doesn’t change things. Like WTF? Who would say beauty can’t change things?! That’s such a negative perspective to have on life. Come on people, be happier.

What people never seem to realize is that what you look like on the outside doesn’t always resemble what’s on the inside. You might not think you’re the “most attractive” (whatever that means) girl in your class, but that doesn’t mean you’re going to do worse than the hot cheerleader. Actually, you’ll probably do a lot f****** better than her. Brains over beauty. ALWAYS.

I rarely speak about politics, because to be completely honest, I don’t follow politics that much. I should, but life gets in the way. When I saw a celebrity was running to be president, I lost all of my interest in the campaign. And then he won…and now I’m like holy shit. I’m absolutely with her, but for someone who didn’t pay much attention to the campaign, I’m slightly shocked and disgusted Trump won.

One of my friends called me last night and wanted some ideas from my end on what I thought about the campaign. He didn’t disclose to any of us that he was actually working on the Trump campaign for a while, until Trump won. I was a little shocked, but after speaking to him, he told me something that I expected. Most of what Trump said is an act, and was for publicity. I’m a feminist, a firm believer in Planned Parenthood, and a firm believer in paying your taxes, All things Trump doesn’t align with…

I won’t bore you with more politics talk, but, I will be talking more about the election this week in the Fashion Lane newsletter. Subscribe above to see my thoughts on who won, and what we can do to change the world even more.

P.S. Congrats to the giveaway winner!

Smile More!

Why don’t more people smile every dang minute?

Boohoo sneakers, Zara top, Express bra, AG Jeans, Chanel bag (c/o my lovely sister)

Happy MONDAY! How are you guys? I woke up this morning feeling like a new person. My sister was visiting from Turkey last week, and she’s pregnant, which means she wakes up every four hours having to go to the bathroom. Which translates to me waking up every four hours and rolling my eyes about my lack of sleep. But for the past two nights since she left, I’ve gotten 9 hours plus of restful beauty sleep. OH YEA!

I started watching Shameless recently, and I’m absolutely hooked on the Netflix show. Something about the mix between the show being somewhat relatable yet not relatable at all is insanely appealing. If you haven’t watched Shameless, go watch episode 1 now and be prepared to finish the entire season within three days.

The thing about the show is it makes you realize your life isn’t actually thatttt bad. Like yes, Shameless is a TV show, but parts in it may be relatable to a lot of people. Raising five kids on your own while your dad drinks himself to death and your mom has a manic episode every 30 seconds is slightly devastating to think about. The main character, Fiona, doesn’t ever seem to be truly happy. I mean, who can blame her; her life literally sucks. But seeing someone (even a TV character) wake up everyday never truly content or happy with their life makes me sad.

P.S. I never put this much thought into a show. That’s how you know Shameless is seriously that damn good.

How often do you wake up happy with your life? Or feeling inspired or motivated? If you don’t wake up 5/7 days of the week feeling like you want to keep pushing for what you believe in, I strongly think you need to change a few factors in your life. Maybe it’s time you pick up a new hobby, or a new workout, or a new boyfriend/girlfriend…regardless of what you need to change, remember we’re all going to die. Life is way too short to not wake up every single day feeling like you can change the world. Jot down what you want to achieve today, this week, or this year, and make it happen.

No regrets, and no time to waste trying to create an excuse to stop yourself from doing what you love.

Holiday Love with Torani

I created the best Thanksgiving recipe for you to make for your friends and family. Mhm, you’re welcome.

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #FlavorSplash #CollectiveBias

Mmm, can you believe it’s almost already Christmas? Time is flying by, which kind of freaks me out. How is 2016 nearly over? How am I already 19?? What’s next, I’m 50 years old tomorrow?

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. I love getting gifts as much as I love giving them, so it’s always a fun time spent with family and friends. Plus, I love cooking, and I have a real excuse to spend hours on end experimenting with recipes in the kitchen!

This season, beverages are all the rage. Get ready to sip on a latte while holiday shopping: I know I am. I teamed up with Torani to make my own homemade signature drink suitable for every boy or girl that comes over to my apartment this holiday season! Torani is a great because they’re a family run brand since 1925, and all you need is a splash in a drink to have all of your friends bragging about how great of a chef you are.

I specifically like to make this recipe for Thanksgiving, because it’s simply a perfect treat in the morning or in the evening. Plus, it’s not even bad for you, compared to other over sweet and overpriced drinks.

Torani allows people to connect with friends and family by sharing their flavor discoveries, and it’s a perfect way to add some flavor to your favorite beverages this holiday season.

I headed to Walmart to purchase the Torani Toasted Marshmallow Syrup and Torani Bourbon Caramel Syrup last weekend.
If you’re curious about all the flavors Torani has to offer, click here.

I decided to make a delicious caramel almond milk latte, using regular coffee and organic almond milk. The recipe is simple, too.

Simply steam 1/2 cup of almond milk in a pan, and mix it for 10 seconds in a blender. In the meantime, pour your favorite black coffee in a mug, and splash 2 teaspoons of Bourbon Caramel syrup in the black coffee. Proceed to gently top the coffee with the almond milk, and use a spoon or your blender to completely mix the drink.

That’s ALL!

You can easily switch out one flavor for the other one if your taste buds like one more than the other.

ENJOY! And have a fantastic beginning to your holiday season!

CT Style x Alexa

I teamed up with CT Style and Sperry Top Sider to talk about my favorite affordable footwear trends!

J.Crew outfit, Capture Salon hair

I just wrapped up a super fun segment on CT Style with Sperry Top Sider, where I talked about my favorite winter footwear trends. If you aren’t familiar with  Sperry Top Sider, they’re one of my favorite brands. Most New Englanders know about the popular duck boot style that LL.Bean sells, but duck boots are always on backorder because everyone goes crazy and buys them at the same time. I went shopping with my boyfriend in Connecticut this weekend and picked up a bunch of different styles that Sperry sells, some that are good enough to wear in a snowstorm and some that are fashionable enough to wear to a meeting. If you’re looking for some new styles to treat yourself to or gift this holiday season, watch the clip above!
