BOOKCON! You were so fun! I am so thrilled I got to be a part of all of this magic on Saturday. If you’ve never heard of BookCon, it’s a fantastic conference in NYC that enables lots of known authors to showcase their work and meet their fans. I was asked to present Natasha Bure (Candace Bure’s daughter) and Chelsea Crockett (teen YouTube star) for their new books, published with HarperCollins. It was so cool to be around teens (for once) because I’m always talking to adults. It’s rare that I get to be surrounded by a bunch of people my age, so BookCon was definitely memorable.

We talked about why following your dreams and embracing yourself ALL of the time. Chelsea and I have super similar stories, so we connected when we started talking about small towns and what led us to start our careers. Talking to Natasha about how to avoid negative criticism and web hate gave me some great ideas for how to react when people say things online (or in person) that aren’t exactly the nicest. Have you seen my video of the Warner Brother’s producer that turned me down?

At the end of the day, you have to ignore what people think about you. All that matters is what you think of yourself, and you’re always worthy of people saying incredible things about you. Never forget that you’re the best critic you could have!

Xo,

Alexa
