A New York Moment

7 May 2015

Sanctuary pants, House of Harlow jewelry, Express necklace, Brandy Melville top, BB Dakota jacket, Ahnu oxfords

I’m not a fan of camouflage. A few months ago, you would’ve never been able to catch me in pants like these. Last Friday, one of my good friends, Cassell, who is a well-known photographer in NYC, wanted to shoot a beautiful NYC day. The sun was shining, and a walk through Soho was exactly what I needed after a long week of trains and planes. There wasn’t a stylist or hairstylist, since you’d consider this more of an “off-duty” shoot, so it was up to me to pick what I wanted to wear. These Sanctuary pants have been hibernating in the back of my closet (tags still intact) for who knows how long, and this light jacket was a purchase at a boutique on my trip to Delaware: why not throw two new pieces together and create an outfit? Camo doesn’t exactly get the best rep in this industry, and I even will admit to hardcore judging the occasional person I see trying to rock camo pants or a jacket. It doesn’t have to be that way though. Since these pants are quite bright and casual, I’m introducing an unusual print in a small dose, without overwhelming myself. That’s the way to do it, my friends.
