A Smooth Transition

ball by alifeinthefashionlane featuring a black gothic lolita dressIf you’re planning a date night or in need of an outfit to wear to the ball, opt for something
edgy and sophisticated like this, but you can pair tights under the dress and throw on a
scarf for added comfort. The worst feeling is going out in public in the evening and being
freezing, but you won’t have to worry here since you’ll look amazing and be toasty!

TIP: Save on the jacket: under $40 at Aeropostale, so you can splurge on the hot dress
from Alice + Olivia

My go-to winter outfit is always denim, boots and a knit. Graphic knits are in every
store from Wildfox to H&M and Forever 21, so don’t let price hold you back. Camo is
making a comeback this season too, and with these shoes you can experiment and won’t
feel out of your comfort level with the small hint of the trend. A basic pair of denim is
necessary: if you can, splurge on a few pairs by higher-end brands like J Brand and Rag &
Bone, but if you can’t, American Eagle and Forever 21 have just as good denim! Everything in
moderation when finding pieces to keep season after season.

Fall is finally here. So long to the days of cutoffs and tank tops with gladiators,
and hello to the days of wearing oversized sweaters and boots because of comfort,
and not fashion. Even though throwing on the jacket and jeans seems like the easiest
bet, fall doesn’t mean you need to stop experimenting and playing with patterns and
trends. If anything, a new season means a chance to find ways to make your body look
better than before, and that doesn’t mean hiding it with comfortable clothing all
day! To prepare for the cold weather, invest in a few chunky knit
sweaters (purchase more for less at stores like Forever 21 and H&M) as well as a decent
parka or jacket. Asos has a great selection of decent jackets in a wide range of prices, so
you won’t have a problem finding one that suits both budget and style.

Playing with seasons can be fun, just make sure to have an open mind!
