Do you ever have one of those “how did I end up here” moments? If there’s one way I could describe this past weekend, that’s how I’d describe it.
I invited my best friends down to Boston to celebrate my 18th birthday with me on Friday, and we spent the evening eating lots of burrata and chocolate, while bonding over old high school memories. Sometimes, you just gotta surround yourself with your oldest friends to remember how far you all have come, and remember how much you have to look forward to in the future.
After spending the night in Boston, I headed home to CT early Saturday morning to pack a new bag and catch a train to NYC. You think one would get exhausted with that much travel, but I like to think of traveling as much as I get to as one of the most thrilling parts of my life.
Since I haven’t put up an NYC hotel review in a while, I figured it’d be a good time to get back into the groove of things since I wanted to be in NYC for the weekend. That’s when I came across The Lowell Hotel, a boutique hotel on the Upper East Side. Like I’ve mentioned in the past, hotels have become my second home. Not too many excite me anymore, unless they’ve got 1) a rad rooftop 2) some really cool cupcakes with my face on them (hint, hint, Refinery Hotel). I thought no hotel would be able to compare, though I was pleasantly surprised to be quite wrong.
I’m calling The Lowell Hotel the BEST hotel in NYC. Between fantastic hospitality, warm apple cider AND hot chocolate in the lobby, and an intimate yet sexy atmosphere, it’s a hotel I’d actually move into. They surprised me with a complimentary New York Times in my room, and I ordered an almond milk latte to begin my Sunday morning with while overlooking Central Park on my private terrace. Screw the insanely comfy bed: I’m willing to purchase an air mattress and sleep on the terrace as long as I have an almond milk latte from The Lowell and the Style section.
