There’s nothing I love more than a red carpet, and last night’s red carpet was no exception. The Golden Globe Awards come at a perfect time for the fashion world – as an opportunity to portray an array of new trends for the new year. I studied every note-able Golden Globe gown and picked up on a few (trends) for the new year. So, grab a pencil and paper and take notes on some of 2015’s biggest trends!
BLUE
The color blue was a major trend on the red carpet this year, worn by some of today’s biggest celebs. We saw everything from a light powder blue to a dazzling and deep navy shade of blue. There is no doubt in my mind that blue will be big in the new year (and I’m not talking about Beyonce’s baby).
Loving the couple color-coordination going on here – almost like a red carpet prom.
My personal favorite navy blue gown of the night – simply stunning!
EMPIRE WAIST
We also saw quite a few waist-accentuating gowns at the Golden Globes, and this is the most anticipated trend! The empire waist has been around for centuries and there is a reason for that. Don’t believe me? Then take a look for yourself! An empire silhouette is flattering on every shape and if you already haven’t, I highly suggest you try this trend out. Grab a peplum top in your closet and belt it for ultimate appeal.
I can confidently say that Mrs. Clooney left us all speechless. Nuff said.
PLUNGING NECKLINE
A style made famous by Jennifer Lopez can now be seen on a wide range of celebrities, alike. The plunging neckline is sexy and the perfect amount of “wow!” for a red carpet. This year’s Golden Globes was no exception to this increasingly popular trend. Grab your double-sided tape and make 2015 the year of the plunging neckline!
Kate Hudson – as seen on countless best-dressed lists.
YELLOW
Yet another color trend spotted on this year’s red carpet is yellow. Yellow is a scary color for most as it has a tendency to make you appear washed-out or like a giant Easter egg. In observing the fabulous women in yellow dresses at the Golden Globes, I have found that finding the perfect shade of yellow is key. Also, an important tip when rocking such a bright color is to keep everything very simple – makeup is natural and accessories are kept minimalistic.
See you soon!
